All I’ve done so far was watch the Michael Jackson Memorial Service.
For the most part, it was pretty good, & emotional as I expected it would be.
One of the things that I didn’t like was Mariah Carey’s version of I’ll Be There. Most of you probably remember her first time doing that on MTV Unplugged many moons ago. She did a GREAT job of it back then and showed talent & some class while doing it.
Fast forward to July 7th, 2009.
Mariah came out in an evening gown that was VERY low cut. I just want to point out that I’m a big fan of cleavage, but this just felt wrong. On top of that, I think she butchered the song, and her stupid hand gestures were distracting while she sang WAY off-key. Since she was the first one singing, I had serious doubts about the rest of the show. I’m happy to say that I was wrong.
The rest of the show was great. Among the highlights for me was Jennifer Hudson singing Will You Be There. She did a truly wonderful job of it and is a truly talented Singer. Another good moment was John Mayer doing Human Nature just with his Guitar and Back Up Singers. He may act like a douchebag, but he does have talent.
Other highlights included:
— Kobe Bryant & Magic Johnson’s speech. I laughed after Magic found out that Michael ate KFC.
— Barry Gordon’s speech
— Brooke Shields’s speech about acting like kids when she was with Michael.
— Stevie Wonder singing
— Everyone singing We Are The World.
— Shaheen Jafargholi (from Britain’s Got Talent) singing Who’s Lovin You.
All in all, I thought it was a great, fitting show to remember Michael Jackson.
R.I.P. Michael Jackson
Well, Bluesfest starts tomorrow and it looks like it’s gonna rain for the first night. I’ll hopefully be able to get down there for a bit.
That’s it for now.
Thanks for reading.
